Depiction 1.3 is coming soon! The video above shows off just a few of the new features that are coming. Not shown are the use of UTM as a coordinate system, the creation of labels using HTML, improved performance and many more features that are coming. And, of course, this update of Depiction will be free to Depiction users!
To best prepare for the release of 1.3, be sure that you have updated to the most recent version (1.2.2d) and that you have saved your depiction files in that latest version. This will ensure the smoothest transition to the new version when it comes out.
Christchurch, New Zealand was just hit with an earthquake. It was “just” a 6.3 quake, but as you can see from the Depiction of the Week, the epicenter was square in the middle of the city, and just a couple miles below the surface.
For more on rapidly building these kind of earthquake simulations, see this video, “90 Seconds to Map an Earthquake“.
UPDATE: The depiction has been updated with newer information from the USGS, as well as reports from the Christchurch Earthquake Ushahidi instance.
